Traveling while pregnant brings with it a unique set of challenges. And, honestly? It can be downright stressful.
A big key to reducing the stress that comes with pregnancy travel is to plan ahead.
If you’re heading out on a road trip during your pregnancy, this list of essentials will help keep you fully prepared:
Road Trip Essentials for Pregnant Mamas-to-Be
1. Comfy Pillow and Blanket
Sitting in a car for extended periods of time can be uncomfortable in general. Throw in pregnancy and you’re on a whole different level.
Up the comfy as much as possible by bringing along your favorite pillow and blanket to snuggle with while you’re on the road. For bonus points, throw in a pair of those really fluffy socks as well and thank me later. 😉
2. Plenty of Water
Hydration during pregnancy is a must, must, must! Unfortunately, getting the amount of water that you need when you’re on the road can sometimes be tricky.
Make sure that you stock up on bottles of water (or find a really great reusable one, like the one I use regularly while road tripping and breastfeeding) before heading out on your adventure.
3. Healthful Snacks
There are so many great superfoods to eat during pregnancy—why not bring a few of them on your road trip?
Nothing is worse than being stuck with only gas station/fast food options, so stock up on healthful snacks like fresh fruits and veggies, unsalted nuts, and whole grain crackers.
4. Prenatal Multi-Vitamins with DHA
Do not—I repeat, DO NOT—forget to bring your prenatal vitamins with you on your road trip, as they are an absolute must for a healthy mom and a healthy baby.
