Essentials to Pack for Your Fall Family Adventures

I’m excited to partner with one of our family’s favorite brands, Stonyfield® Organic YoKids®, who kindly sponsored this blog post.

Fall is the perfect season to explore. Whether you’re heading to an in-town festival, apple picking in the mountains, or road tripping to see some of that beautiful autumn foliage—there are plenty of adventures to be had.

However, before you hit the road, you’ll want to make sure that you have everything you need. This list of essential items will set you up for successful fall adventures all season long!

Essentials to Pack for Your Fall Family Adventures

Tracking Pixel1. Plenty of Water

No matter where you’re going or what you’re doing, staying hydrated is an absolute must. Make sure that you pack plenty of water for yourself, your little ones, and any fur babies who may be tagging along.

While it’s okay to bring other drinks along (I’ve been known to hike mountains with an iced coffee in hand), don’t skip on packing that H20. Your body needs it—even when that fall weather kicks in!

2. A Variety of Delicious Snacks

Whether you’re hiking, apple picking, taking in a fall festival, or road tripping out of town, you’re going to need something to snack on. As frequent “go-ers”, we’ve learned to always leave the house with snacks in tow. You really don’t know what you’re going to find when you reach your destination.

For us, packing a variety of yummy snacks for the whole family is key—especially when kids are involved.

Some of our frequent kid-approved snacks are:

  • Fresh veggies, such as snap peas or carrot sticks
  • Whole-grain crackers
  • Easy-to-eat fresh fruit, like mandarins or apple slices
  • Stonyfield® Organic YoKids® yogurts, in Squeezers form

Stonyfield® Organic YoKids® yogurts (the #1 organic kids yogurt brand) are a favorite in our house. The kiddos love that they’re yummy, and I love that they are certified organic and Non- GMO Project verified. (That means that each cup is always made without the use of toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics and GMOs—woohoo!)

Something else that’s amazing? Stonyfield recently announced a sugar reduction across all of its yogurts — starting with YoKids! The reduction is pretty significant, with YoKids® now having between 25% – 40% less sugar than the leading kids yogurt. As a mama with two little sweet tooth monsters for children—I’ll take any sugar reduction I can get. 😉

We also love that YoKids® comes in easy-to-pack formats like Squeezers (our girl’s favorite), tubes, smoothies, and Pouches (which will feature a sugar reduction starting in December 2017). Anything that’s convenient and delicious that you can grab-and-go is a complete lifesaver when you’re trying to get everyone out the door and on the road.

3. A Camera!

Now. This doesn’t mean be glued to your phone/camera for your entire fall family adventure. The goal here to find that balance between living in the moment and capturing the memories.

If you need a little help wrangling the little ones for pictures, our fool-proof tips for taking great travel pictures of kids are crazy helpful.

4. Light-weight Jackets

While fall weather is crisp and glorious, it can also get downright chilly in a flash. Make sure that you bring along light-weight jackets for the whole family.

You can always leave them in the car if you don’t want to tote them around. As long as they are nearby, you’ll be covered if the temperature decides to drop.

What are your must-pack essentials for fall family adventures?

I never leave my house without snacks. My boys get HANGRY and I need to always make sure I have something for them. We also leave a case of water in the trunk so we always have it if we need it.

Water and snacks are essential every time we leave the house, even if we are only going to be gone for 30 minutes. My daughters favorite yogurt happens to be Stonyfield!

Snacks are so important. I went a hike once that was triple the time commitment and double the effort I thought. I got hungry at one point.

It is a mom rule to always have snacks on hand. I used to feed the kids this Stonyfield yogurt all the time but now that they have the grab and go squeeze packs I need to look for those again.
