Perfect Postpartum Leggings for Breastfeeding Moms

Breastfeeding Article Disclaimer: I’m a firm believer that fed is best; that each parent should do what needs to be done to properly care for herself/himself and for her or his child. I write about breastfeeding because it’s my personal experience; never to shame and never to divide. Please help keep this community positive by choosing not to participate in the shaming of another parent or another parent’s choices—here or anywhere. We are all in this together.

There’s a lot that goes on after birthing a baby.

Your schedule is sometimes in complete disarray. Your body is unfamiliar and going through all kinds of crazy biological nonsense. And there’s also this brand new tiny human that you are personally responsible for. In other words…things can get busy. Really busy.

If breastfeeding is a part of your mom life…things can get even crazier.

The one thing that new mamas don’t have time for? Literally anything that makes life unnecessarily more complicated.

After the birth of my girls, I found that one thing that was super easy for me to streamline was my new mom wardrobe.

Now…being honest here…I’m not a fashion person. At all. I like clothes that are comfy, functional, and available in the color black. Beyond that, I completely lose interest.

The wardrobe staple that met my criteria and essentially defined my postpartum wardrobe? Leggings, y’all. Leggings for days.

While I’ve loved leggings throughout my life, they are especially wonderful right after you’ve had a baby—as long as you find a pair that meets the needs of your postpartum body.

In my case, I needed leggings for a body that had gained weight, especially in the stomach region, and a body that was busy breastfeeding.

There are a few key things that are a must for postpartum leggings for breastfeeding moms:

  1. Coverage
  2. Control
  3. Comfort

When I had the chance to try out the new Snapback Postpartum Leggings from Preggo Leggings, I fell in love because they were comfy, functional, and available in the color black—and also because they are specifically designed to include accommodate new mamas who are breastfeeding.

Perfect Postpartum Leggings for Breastfeeding Moms

1. Coverage

What I love about these leggings is that they are specifically designed with the breastfeeding mama in mind.

They go higher than other similar leggings that I’ve tried and cover the abdomen completely.

This means that if you’re nursing on-the-go and you’re not comfortable having your stomach exposed (like me), you don’t have to use a nursing cover to remain covered while nursing.

Lift up your shirt to feed your babe, and the leggings still have you covered!

2. Control

No matter what size you are, these little leggings will help you feel a little bit more like your “old self” in the months following giving birth.

While they won’t magically make the extra belly fat disappear (nothing does that, you guys), they keep everything just a little bit more “in” and “up”.

Since I live in leggings anyway, it’s nice to have a pair that keep some of the rolls a little more controlled. 😉

3. Comfort

At the end of the day, moms are busy. There’s a lot going on. A lot of times it’s stressful. And—if I’m being completely honest here—I’m not really interested in bringing something into my day that’s going to make me physically uncomfortable.

If a piece of clothing stops me from momming  to my fullest extent, forget it. It’s just not worth it to me.

That’s why these leggings are so great for new mamas—they are actually comfortable! You can go about your day and not feel like you’re being strangled by your clothing. Because who would want to deal with that on top of everything else?

I really loved wearing leggings after my kids were born. But I just could not bring myself to leave the house in them. I always felt like I needed something more secure. I like to lounge in leggings.

Couldn’t anyone where these leggings. I’m not quite sure how they are more perfect for a breastfeeding parent than another? Tho, as a fellow toddler tandem nursing breastfeeding mama comfort is key, and coverage is key. Must be able to bend, chase and cortor my body in all shapes to successfully wrangle and manage to children. The true test is if they stay up while nursing a newborn and chasing a toddler up a hill on a hike. #multitaskingatitsfinest

Oh my goodness, of course!! These are postpartum leggings first and foremost—for all new mamas. Like I mention in my Breastfeeding Article Disclaimer, my purpose of these articles is never to divide, but only to share my personal experience and perspective. I wrote this particular post to share the fact that I actually found a pair of postpartum leggings that truly work for me as a breastfeeding mom. Other similar postpartum leggings that I’ve tried don’t quite come up high enough to provide true stomach coverage if I were to lift up my shirt, but these actually do! And so far they’ve managed to stay up during the infant\toddler wrangling sessions around here, as well. 😉

Oh I wish I bought them when I was breastfeeding. I was sceptical and couldn’t really differentiate them from the regular ones.
